Email is still the highest-ROI channel for Indian businesses, from D2C brands in Bengaluru to SaaS teams in Pune and agencies in Delhi. But “best” depends on how you are billed, what you really pay once 18% GST and forex charges land, and whether the tool fits India’s new privacy law. This guide compares 10 email marketing tools Indian teams actually shortlist, with rupee pricing where it is published, free-plan limits, and the compliance rules that apply to Indian senders in 2026.
Quick picks: cheapest published rupee plan — Zoho Campaigns; biggest free plan — Zoho Campaigns (2,000 subscribers) and MailerLite (1,000); pay for emails sent, not contacts stored — Bluey Email or Brevo; email + WhatsApp + SMS in one tool — Brevo or SendPulse; interactive AMP emails — Mailmodo; enterprise and Indian-language content — Netcore.

How we evaluated
- Real cost in India — rupee pricing, GST treatment and forex exposure, not just the headline dollar price.
- Billing model — per contact stored versus per email sent, because Indian lists often grow faster than they are emailed.
- Free plan — what you can actually do before paying.
- Deliverability basics — SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup, one-click unsubscribe, list hygiene.
- Local fit — support in IST hours, integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, Razorpay and Zoho, and consent tools that match the DPDP Act.
The 10 tools, one by one
1. Bluey Email — best for growing lists on a budget
Bluey Email bills on emails sent, not contacts stored, so a large list you email occasionally does not cost more every month it grows. Indian visitors see rupee pricing, and the Spark plan starts at ₹300/month for 6,000 emails. Automation, a built-in CRM and landing pages are included rather than sold as add-ons. There is a free-forever plan (500 emails and 500 contacts a month, no card). Bluey Email is GDPR compliant and Google CASA verified.
Watch for: it is a newer brand than Mailchimp or Zoho, with a smaller template and integration library.
2. Zoho Campaigns — best for Zoho CRM users
Chennai-headquartered Zoho bills Indian customers in rupees and publishes the lowest rupee entry price on this list: ₹350/month billed annually (₹420 monthly) for 500 subscribers, plus GST. The free plan covers 2,000 subscribers and 6,000 emails a month, and pay-as-you-go email credits suit occasional senders. The integration with Zoho CRM is the main reason to choose it.
Watch for: the editor and automation builder feel dated next to newer tools, and prices step up with subscriber count.
3. Brevo — best for email, SMS and WhatsApp together
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) charges by emails sent, with a free plan of 300 emails a day and paid plans from $9/month for 5,000 emails. It bundles SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, which suits Indian D2C brands that run all three channels.
Watch for: the Brevo logo appears on free-plan emails, and automation depth sits on the higher tiers.
4. Mailchimp — best for beginners who want templates
Mailchimp has the largest template and integration library here. The free plan is capped at 500 contacts and 1,000 sends a month, and Essentials starts at $13/month. Billing is per contact stored, so cost climbs as your list grows even if you do not email more.
Watch for: unsubscribed and inactive contacts can still count towards your bill. If you are already on Mailchimp and want out, see Mailchimp alternatives in India.
5. MailerLite — best free plan for newsletters
MailerLite’s free plan (1,000 subscribers, 12,000 emails a month) is one of the most generous, and it includes landing pages and a clean editor. Paid plans start at $10/month ($9 billed annually).
Watch for: billing is in USD, so expect your bank’s forex markup on every payment.
6. SendPulse — best for WhatsApp and chatbots
SendPulse publishes rupee pricing for India: ₹640/month billed annually (₹800 monthly), plus GST. The free plan covers 500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month, and the same account runs WhatsApp, chatbots and SMS.
Watch for: the interface packs in many channels, so there is a learning curve if you only need email.
7. Mailmodo — best for interactive AMP emails
Mailmodo, an Indian startup, specialises in AMP emails: forms, carts and polls that work inside the inbox. There is no free plan (a 21-day trial instead), and Lite starts at $39/month billed annually.
Watch for: AMP needs sender registration with Gmail and is not supported in every inbox, so a fallback version is always sent.
8. Netcore — best for enterprise and Indian-language content
Mumbai-based Netcore serves large Indian brands with high-volume email, personalisation and Hindi and regional-language templates. Pricing is not published; you go through sales.
Watch for: it is overkill and hard to price for small businesses.
9. Elastic Email — best for high volume at low cost
Elastic Email charges by emails sent, with 100 emails a day free and Starter from $15/month for 5,000 emails. It gets cheap per email at high volume.
Watch for: the marketing features are thinner than all-in-one tools, and billing is in USD.
10. Moosend — best low entry price
Moosend starts at $9/month for 500 subscribers after a 30-day trial, with automation included on the entry plan.
Watch for: there is no free plan, and billing is in USD.
What it really costs in India
18% GST
Software subscriptions attract 18% GST on top of the listed price. If you are GST-registered, ask the vendor for an invoice with your GSTIN so you can claim input tax credit. With foreign vendors, a registered business generally accounts for the GST itself under the reverse-charge mechanism; confirm the treatment with your accountant.
Forex markup on dollar plans
Paying a USD plan with an Indian card usually adds a foreign-currency markup of around 2–3.5%, depending on your bank, plus exchange-rate movement month to month. On a $13 plan at an illustrative ₹88 to the dollar, that is about ₹1,144 before markup and GST — roughly ₹1,400 once both are added. Rupee-billed tools avoid the markup and keep the monthly cost predictable.
Contact-based vs send-based billing
Most global tools bill per contact: you pay for every address stored, whether you email it or not. For Indian lists that grow fast but are emailed occasionally — festive-season buyers, lead-magnet sign-ups — that model gets expensive. Send-based pricing (Bluey Email, Brevo, Elastic Email) charges for the emails you actually send, which usually works out cheaper for large or seasonal lists.
How to choose
- Billing currency and payment method. Rupee billing avoids forex charges. If you want to pay by UPI or net banking, check that the vendor supports it for recurring payments.
- Deliverability. Whatever you choose, authenticate your domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC before your first campaign. Check your reputation with a sender score lookup and test copy with our spam checker.
- Integrations. D2C brands need Shopify or WooCommerce sync; check Razorpay and Zoho CRM connections if you use them.
- Support hours. Ask whether support covers IST working hours, and on which plans.
- Language. If you send in Hindi or regional languages, test Unicode rendering in Gmail on Android, where most Indian opens happen.
Compliance for Indian email senders
The DPDP Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025
India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 governs how businesses process the personal data of individuals in India, and email addresses are personal data. Consent must be free, specific, informed and unambiguous, and withdrawing it must be as easy as giving it — in practice, a working unsubscribe link. Data should be erased once its purpose is served. The DPDP Rules were notified on 14 November 2025: most obligations (notices, security safeguards, breach notification and erasure) apply 18 months later, around May 2027, and penalties for security failures run up to ₹250 crore. Use confirmed opt-in and keep a record of when and how each person subscribed.
The IT Act
India has no CAN-SPAM-style anti-spam statute. Section 66A of the IT Act, sometimes cited for spam, was struck down by the Supreme Court in 2015 (Shreya Singhal v. Union of India). Consent obligations now flow from the DPDP Act.
Gmail and Yahoo bulk-sender rules
Since February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo require anyone sending around 5,000 or more emails a day to their users to authenticate with SPF, DKIM and DMARC, align the From domain, offer one-click unsubscribe and honour it within two days, and keep spam complaints below 0.3%. Gmail began rejecting non-compliant mail in November 2025. Most Indian inboxes are Gmail, so these rules matter more than any local law for deliverability. See our guide to Gmail’s bulk-sender requirements.
Email vs SMS vs WhatsApp: what needs DLT?
TRAI’s DLT registration (under the TCCCPR 2018 regulations) applies to commercial SMS and voice calls, not email. If your email tool also sends SMS, the SMS side needs DLT-registered headers and templates; WhatsApp campaigns follow Meta’s template-approval rules instead.
Which one should you pick?
If your list is growing and you want automation, CRM and landing pages in one plan without paying for contacts you rarely email, start with Bluey Email. If you already run on Zoho CRM, Zoho Campaigns has the lowest published rupee price. For email, SMS and WhatsApp together, compare Brevo and SendPulse. For the biggest template library, Mailchimp is the familiar choice — just watch the per-contact cost as you scale. Large brands with regional-language needs should talk to Netcore.
Email marketing software in India: FAQ
Which is the cheapest email marketing software in India?
Among tools that publish rupee prices, Zoho Campaigns starts lowest at ₹350/month billed annually for 500 subscribers, and Bluey Email’s Spark plan starts at ₹300/month for 6,000 emails, billed on sends rather than contacts. Free plans from Zoho (2,000 subscribers), MailerLite (1,000), SendPulse (500), Mailchimp (500) and Bluey Email (500 emails) cost nothing to start.
Is there free email marketing software in India?
Yes. Zoho Campaigns, MailerLite, SendPulse, Brevo, Mailchimp, Elastic Email and Bluey Email all have free plans. The biggest by subscriber count are Zoho (2,000) and MailerLite (1,000).
Is GST charged on email marketing software?
Yes, 18% on top of the listed price. GST-registered businesses can claim input tax credit against an invoice that shows their GSTIN.
Do I need DLT registration for email marketing?
No. DLT applies to commercial SMS and voice calls in India, not email.
Is email marketing legal in India?
Yes, with consent. Under the DPDP Act, 2023 you must get clear consent, tell people what you will send, and let them withdraw (unsubscribe) easily. Sending to purchased lists without consent is not compliant.
Which email marketing tools bill in Indian rupees?
Zoho Campaigns and SendPulse publish rupee pricing, and Bluey Email shows rupee pricing to Indian visitors (it bills in 128 currencies, including INR). Several others bill only in USD, which adds forex charges.
Do I need a Made-in-India tool?
Not necessarily. Indian vendors such as Zoho, Netcore and Mailmodo make GST invoicing and IST support easy, but consent handling, rupee billing and deliverability to Gmail matter more than where the vendor is headquartered.
How many emails can I send without being marked as spam?
There is no fixed number. Gmail’s stricter rules start at around 5,000 emails a day, but at any volume you need an authenticated domain, a consented list, and a spam-complaint rate under 0.3%. Warm up new domains gradually.
