Engagement Rate Calculator

Engagement rate = (total engagements ÷ followers or reach) × 100. Add up likes, comments, shares and saves, then divide by your follower count (or by reach/impressions for a stricter figure). A common rule of thumb: under 1% is low, 1–3.5% is healthy, and above 3.5% is strong — though medians vary by platform and audience size.

How the engagement rate calculator works

Engagement rate measures how actively your audience interacts with your content, expressed as a percentage. This tool sums your likes, comments, shares and saves into total engagements, then divides by the base you choose. Engagement by followers answers “what share of my audience reacted,” while engagement by reach or impressions answers “what share of people who actually saw it reacted” and is usually the stricter, more honest number.

If your figures cover several posts, enter the post count and the calculator divides the base accordingly, so the rate reflects an average post rather than a cumulative total. The verdict bands (under 1% low, 1–3.5% healthy, above 3.5% strong) are a general rule of thumb, not a platform-specific benchmark — smaller accounts and niche audiences often run much higher than large ones.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good engagement rate?As a rough guide, under 1% is on the low side, 1% to 3.5% is healthy, and above 3.5% is strong. Rates fall as accounts grow, so a 50,000-follower brand and a 2,000-follower creator should not be judged by the same number.
Should I measure against followers or reach?Followers is the most widely quoted method and easiest to compare over time. Reach or impressions gives a stricter rate because it only counts people who actually saw the post — useful when your posts reach far beyond your follower base.
What counts as an engagement?Typically likes, comments, shares and saves. Some definitions also include profile taps, link clicks or video plays. This tool uses the four core interactions; keep your definition consistent so trends stay comparable.
Is this engagement rate calculator free?Yes. It is free, needs no signup, and runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded.
